Regular Chemo

chemotherapy5Jane had her two Herceptin drugs yesterday and hopefully these will not have the side effects that the Docetaxel had. She will now be on permanent chemo, once every three weeks, so this cycle of events will become part of our lives but I look at it as an investment in our future together. Jane has another appointment with the oncologist in three weeks time and thereafter once every three months so we assume the oncologist is happy that Jane’s cancer is in remission.

Yesterday went very smoothly and she was called within minutes of her appointment time at 11am. They had a few problems getting a line into her veins so she didn’t get started on the infusion until 12.30 but after that everything went very smoothly and we were out of the hospital just after 2pm.

The residual effects of the Docetaxel continue – hair falling out and finger nails becoming loose continue and it may be another three months before Jane sees some improvement.

    Dear Jane
With Murphy (which I can understand, honestly) and your “trips” to the hospital, it must be hard,,,,to say the very least. But you have always been the most +ve couple we know…and so may that continue. See you soon.
Love Paul & Helene (and esp Caitlin and Tessa when Tabby passed away..v sad at the least but traumatic for some.
We were wondering to adopt another “fella” but haven’t decided yet and agree that you give yourself awhile and then decide…but cats can be great/calming company…if not bringing in mice/climbing curtains etc.
    Love
    Paul and Helenex
