Blimey this is getting complicated, just when we thought we understood the cycle of events they go and change everything but more on this later.
Another day, another frustrating time at Lincolnshire County Hospital. We roll up at 9.30 for the blood test then wile away two hours (crosswords, emails, Sudoku, newspaper, etc.) until its appointment time. Once again 11.30 passes by and around 12.45 Jane gets called in because they have a seat free however she doesn’t get linked up until 2.15, nearly 3 hours after her appointment time. I text Jane (there’s no room for visitors in the treatment suite) to tell her to relax and think of it as a day at the office with all its incumbent frustrations.
One of the biggest frustrations is that they’ve decided to give Jane all three drugs – Pertuzumab; Trastuzumab and Docetaxel in one session which takes several hours. This also finishes the Docetaxel cycle 2 infusion 3, but also starts cycle 3, so now we’ve cleared that up (clear as mud) you’re as confused as we are. Jane meets the oncologist on Friday for a review of the treatment.
We eventually get away at 6pm but she’s looking as lovely as ever and still smiling. For those of a medical inclination here’s her blood results: Hb 112; WBC 4.8; Plts 242; and Neuts 4.26.
This must be so frustrating Jane, hope you are keeping your spirits up though. I’m singing every Thursday evening with the new choir & praying that some of the happy vibes are winging their way to you! Sending my love, Andrea x
Sounds so very complicated
Keeping everything crossed x
I think they keep changing the pattern just so we don’t know what’s coming next. Hopefully we’ll get to know more when we meet the oncologist on Friday.
