Prick of Light at the End of the Tunnel

oncologist-stethascopeAnd yet another visit to Dr Intrivici, Jane’s enthusiastic and warm oncologist. What with everything that’s happened over the past 15 months these appointments are met with apprehension. We didn’t have to wait long and as soon as she came out to meet us she said “let me go and arrange your new chemo first” which was great to hear because it means Jane hasn’t been written off.

The new chemo is administered every three weeks by injection and is made up of three chemicals: Fluorouracil (5FU); Epirubicin; and Cyclophosphamide. The side effects are similar (and too numerous to mention) to other chemotherapies and she will lose her hair again so luckily she has purchased a new very pretty wig – a photo coming soon to this site.

Her breathlessness continues however she managed to walk slowly into town and back which is a slight improvement on last week. And so to the “Prick of light at the end of the tunnel” which is a  reference to the daily injection I administer to her stomach and the hope we hold in our hearts. I’m not sure if I’m the prick but thank goodness for sharp needles.

I’m sure everyone will agree you are not “the prick” ,
hopefully that small light at the end of tunnel will get bigger.
We had the Truppsters annual Christmas tea at Janet Eliots yesterday and you were both discussed, and I was asked to pass on everyone’s good wishes to you both, you are still missed here, as you were an important part to our village, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, from the Truppsters X

Good that they have more they can give Jane. Strong stuff, but hopefully worth the side effects.
    Thinking of you both…
