This week and last week have turned out to be hospital weeks. Jane had another MRI last week which freaks her out but she coped with me sitting at the head end and talking nonsense. The following day she had an Echocardiogram.
Today she met her oncologist but there was little to be said. It seems the nodule close to the spleen is in fact in the tail of the pancreas and this is what is causing Jane’s persistent back pain. The liver cancer has been confirmed. Dr Intrivici is confident that the current chemo will resolve the problem but it will take another couple of cycles. She does have a plan C which will require weekly chemo but we live in hope this won’t be necessary.
Pain control is the top of the agenda and Jane is hoping to see someone in the pain management department (how long this will take, nobody can say). In the meantime she continues to take paracetamol every 6 hours, oral morphine whenever she needs it and a slow release morphine twice a day. For someone who hates taking medication this is torture.
I have been in one of those things for a brain scan, but it was good and with radio on my ears, it was ok, and quite relaxing. Mine was Prostate and an early dementia scan. ( an important thing dismissed in favour of other matters). If you need one , don’t be afraid and go for it.

Two weeks on and the big issues are pain control and appetite loss leading to continued weight loss. Jane weighs 50 kilos or 90 pounds or just under 7 stone and is trying hard to eat high calorie food but she just doesn’t want anything.
Somebody on TV said we shouldn’t refer to “beating cancer” as a “fight” but it seems like a battle from where we are. Jane continues to fight.
Dear Jane and Steve, our kindest thoughts and well wishes are sent to you both with this little note. This is also echoed by many old table tennis friends we met with in Rothersthorpe Village Hall xx.
fingers crossed for you and thinking of you lots
xx helene

With love liz
Hope all goes well, let’s hope Plan C won’t be necessary,
