Que Sera Sera

cancer-cellsSorry, with an Italian oncologist I couldn’t resist an Italian reference and she certainly believes in “What will be will be” but as devoted life planners it doesn’t sit too well with us. Our meeting with Dr Intrivici today was incredibly emotional – tears all round.
Jane’s cancer has infected her liver and also there is a nodule close to her spleen. We were thinking that this was the beginning of the end but hopefully not – the fat lady hasn’t started singing yet. Jane starts a new regime of chemotherapy tomorrow and once again every three weeks. It will mean there will be side effects as it works by following a Herceptin marker to the cancer cells and then destroying them so she may possibly lose her hair again and will be susceptible to infections. Better she loses her hair than her life.

Jane and Steve… You don’t deserve this, so sorry to hear this news, I hope the treatment goes well,

  3. Steve says:

Thank you so, so much for everyone’s kind words and offers of support. As I write this Jane is sitting in the oncology suite waiting for this new drug infusion. Apparently her blood pressure is high – I’m not surprised mine would be stratospheric by now. I sometimes wonder whether our blog is self indulgent, it isn’t meant to be, it just helps to let our many good friends know in one simple posting rather than having to contact you all individually. Thanks again for thinking of us – much love Steve and Jane xx

Dear Jane and Steve. Not the news you both needed and sure we were looking for better news! It must be physically and emotionally exhausting. You are a strong team and we wish you good news in the near future. Paulx

Like you, I was hoping it would be different news… but if losing your hair is what it takes then embrace the treatment.
