Jane had a meeting with her oncologist last Friday. She was pleased with the way Jane has stabilised but explained once again that there was no point in surgery as the cancer was in her body and it was a matter of stabilising it and controlling it because it would never be eradicated completely. We won’t see the oncologist for another six weeks now because everything is stable and there is no point but Jane can call at any time if she has any concerns or believes anything has changed.
Monday morning after our drive up from Birmingham we’re sitting in the hospital waiting for the kick off but there is a delay because the oncologist has forgotten to sign off the prescription and it doesn’t include Docetaxel despite her telling us on Friday that it would be included. After much discussion they decide to give Jane the full treatment but it has to be prescribed, pharmacy have to prepare it and of course it has to be delivered. All this means Jane doesn’t get her first infusion until 2pm. As always I happily sit in the waiting area reading, completing a crossword puzzle and writing a few emails. This is much preferable to talking to some of the other people there who just want to tell you their cancer stories which usually are depressing – who needs this?
This week is not good for Jane, she struggles to find things that taste any good and she feels nauseous a lot of the time. Hopefully she will recover a little in time for Christmas Day.
