We went to see a theatre production called Einstein at Tealby Village Hall on Friday evening. This was a brief history of the key points in Einstein’s life and an amusing explanation of the special theory of relativity. It was written and played by John Hinton who was excellent. Whilst we were taking our seats he moved around behaving in character with a German accent and introducing himself as Einstein, welcoming us to Princeton University where he was a professor.
It was an amusing performance, punctuated by songs and a rap which all helped to explain the scientific events from 1905 until the dropping of the first Atom Bomb in 1945.
He used participants from the audience to explain some of the more complex aspects of the theory of relativity.
Here you can see our friends and neighbours Dave & Lucie helping to demonstrate that gravity works in a curve and once they were enveloped by gravity they became a black hole – or at least I think that’s what was going on.
It was a great night and no surprise that the show was launched at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2013, it had all the hallmarks of a good Fringe show. We’re looking forward to their next production feature Marie Curie, her life and works.
