There’s nothing like a bit of retail therapy to lift the spirits even if it entails trawling the internet for ideas. For some weeks we’ve been thinking about a front bench to sit on at the front door under the glass porch. We toyed with the idea of a simple wooden bench, possibly made out of sleepers (£50 from Dunelm) but it seemed too simple.
Eventually we came across a sandstone bench and then had to decide whether to get a straight bench or an “S” bench. We decided on the “S” style simply because there aren’t any curves in the house design and it would be an interesting juxtaposition – forgive the architect’s speak but I think I’ve been spending too much time in their company during the house build.
Thankfully Nick was at a loose end so I could tear him away from his garden to help me lift it into position, it is very heavy and it wasn’t easy to get it right particularly as it’s sitting on a sloping path. Let’s hope we don’t have to move it again, ever!
Lovely porch & bench looks good!
You should have seen the palaver it took to get it in place. Its a relief we didn’t break it. Let’s hope we see you up here sitting on it sometime.
