I booked a studio flat in the same building as when I came two years ago. It is usually student accommodation but it has en suite facilities and a small kitchen so I can fend for myself if the crowds become overbearing or all the eateries are full. It’s a safe haven.
It is also very central so that most of the main venues are within walking distance even if the hills of Edinburgh can be a little daunting when rushing from one side of the city to the other.
I don’t have to go far to the Royal Mile where the street entertainment never ceases, or it doesn’t while I’m still awake. I get the sense that the city doesn’t sleep at this time of year.
It is amazing the level of young talent performing. This young lady had a pre-recorded track playing her violin and was playing over that with another theme. I stopped and listened for quite some time.
