Perhaps I’ve been living in denial but after so long on chemo I’ve pushed it to the back of our minds that there’s anything wrong. I’m sure has never been far from Jane’s thinking. For the past few weeks she has been experiencing a stomach ache and of course we worry that the cancer has returned. After a visit to the oncologist last Friday she gave Jane some tablets to sort out her stomach and arranged another CT scan just to put our minds at rest. She also advised on a very bland diet – rice, potatoes, white bread, chicken – which is nothing like Jane’s normal diet. As always Jane is putting on a brave face but a lack of sleep due to the stomach pain and the pain itself is taking it’s toll. I’ll make sure I keep everyone updated as we muddle our way through this latest concern.

Having been told Jane’s oncologist would be available today we now discover she doesn’t return from holiday until Thursday. Jane has an appointment with her on Friday so we should know more then…
It is so annoying that since Jane’s CT scan she has chased the oncologist on a daily basis but despite of promises made by her secretary and others we’ve had no news. We challenged the oncologist last time about how long it took to get the MRI results and she promised she would make sure she contacted us, but nothing. Jane’s stomach pain continues and her disturbed sleep isn’t helping her well being but as always she puts on a brave face and gets on with life…
We are thinking of you both at this worrying time. Thanks for updating us and try to stay positive which I appreciate is easier said than done.
Dear steve and jane, thank you for sharing your news. I hope jane recovers sufficient strength to enjoy more of your day trips. I think the trips you have taken recently are brilliant.
With love to you both
Hi Liz – yes, it has been a worrying time but Jane isn’t allowing it to get in the way of what she wants to do. We went for a 13 mile cycle on Monday afternoon and today we’ve been up to Bempton Cliffs just north of Bridlington to see the puffins. I should be adding a post about it tomorrow so you can see some of the pictures we managed to capture. As always I’ll keep posting news on the web site if for no other reason I find it cathartic. Love & hugs from us both.
I have everything crossed, as I’m sure everyone else has, good luck xx
