Amazing Maisie

Maisie(May15)It has been many months since our dear Murphy died and the house has seemed empty without him. We’ve had cats ever since we were married (and before when we lived together in a farm cottage at college). We wanted to get over Murphy before taking on a new member of the family so we arranged to go to a local cat rehoming centre after our holiday.

As soon as we stepped through the gate we were surrounded by numerous cats of various colours and personalities. Although we had no specific requirements we wanted a friendly cat and possibly long-haired but there was just too much choice. Our legs were being head butted from all sides with little mews saying “take me! take me!” After several walks around cages and runs we eventually settled for “Glenda” (don’t ask). After going through the formalities and paying a contribution for her jabs, chips and health checks we had our girl in the car and within a 20 minute journey Glenda transmogrified (that should be transmoggiefied) into Maisie.

So far she’s proven to be a little nervous but we spent our first evening together with her settled on Jane’s lap, purring and very happy (I think Jane was purring too).

    Hi both

What a lovely cat. As said by others, she is very lucky to have been chosen by you and I hope she brings lots of love and cuddles into your lives. I think ‘Maisie’ suits her much better than ‘Glenda’. It’s typical of you to stay up rather than disturb her!

Hi both, really interesting news. When our Tabby died, we thought of re-homing another, but because the girls have left home we thought it might not get enough affection. But I am now a friend with an elderly neighbour who has the most gorgeous small black hairy terrior. She is hospital this week so “Tessie” will be sleeping-over here.
Many thanks for putting the girls RHS link on your website. They are down there panicking before judging day on Wed morning. The weather and some suppliers have not been as kind as could be, but they remain positive. Take care the 3 of you! Paul

Ahhhh, that’s lovely, I’m sure Glenda
Will be an asset, my Mr Mog is 21 know, but he still rules the household, have fun x

Thanks Christy, She’s slowly settling in but we thought we’d lost her earlier as she wasn’t anywhere to found. We hadn’t opened any outside doors and we looked everywhere. We started to think she was an illusion or some kind of Houdini. Eventually Jane found her flat out behind the vertical blinds. As you know our Murphy was 20 and Millie was 15 so it’s been a long time since we introduced a new cat to our home. We feel like novice cat owners again.

  4. Looks like a lovely little cat. How old is she? Hope she settles in soon, she is a lucky cat to live with you two.

Thanks for your comment, I think we’re lucky to have her. They say she can be anything from 8 months to 2 years old and she has had a litter which is why she was thrown out. She’s still very shy to the point of being frightened of our open living space and there are signs she may have been abused because she cowers and hides when you initially walk into the room. We’ll win her round and she is very loving once you get through the fear. Last night we didn’t get to bed until 12.30 because she was laying across our laps and we didn’t want to disturb her.
