The Kingsman film review

movies-kingsman-the-secret-service-posterOn Friday we went down to Barnet to see how Jane’s mum was getting along in the care home. We stay overnight because the three-hour journey on the A1 is quite tiring and we get to see her in the afternoon and the following morning.

The evening is a bit of non-time so we went to the cinema to see the Kingsman. This is a bit of a spoof movie and Colin Firth makes a very funny “James Bond”. The film is totally over the top with heads exploding and fights where the hero always walks away totally unscathed. We enjoyed it as an evening of escapism but no way does it compare to some of the recent films we’ve seen.

Jane’s mum is doing ok for someone of her age (93) and although she is now confined to her bed she can hold a conversation and her memory of times past is still good.

Good to hear that Jane’s Mum is still able to hold a conversation with you as so many of her age can’t but it’s a pity you have such a long drive to visit her. We also travel a long distance to visit Ray’s Mum who is almost 92 and lives in Wales and at this time of year weather plays a large part in when we can go.

We’re finding the trick to making the trips ok is to include something else such as our cinema visits. Next time Jane will be visiting on her own on the train which I think is more gruelling than the road journey. She leaves home just before 10am and returns at about 10 pm with only a few hours at the care home. If Jane’s mum is asleep then it can be a totally wasted journey. It does give Jane a chance to write emails on the train and also to investigate how the home is looking after her mum.
