Sunflowers and stuff

red-sunflowers(aug14)Jane woke on Saturday morning with enough energy for three people and I suggested she was suffering from ADHD because she was so hyperactive (it was a consequence of the steroids she takes immediately before and after the chemo).  To harness her energy we visited the farmers market at Brigg and then went to Horncastle in the afternoon and a garden centre so it was a very busy day. Nature has to maintain equilibrium and so by the end of the day her ankles had swollen to the point where the ankle joint was no longer visible.

This morning after a few hours in the garden Jane phoned the hospital and was told to elevate her feet. Very reluctantly she’s had to spend the afternoon with her feet up watching rubbishy Sunday afternoon TV – no pleasure when the sun is shining and the garden is calling.

From the settee she can see the sunflowers which brings some sunshine into what might be a miserable afternoon.

Having typed a long message, an error in email address meant it all disappeared! Have been thinking of you both – the sunflowers are a real picture and the dragonfly was beautiful. We have a little pet mouse which lives by the pond – his name is Maurice. Mia just sits alongside him and they look at each other! Putting your feet up this afternoon, Jane, must have been tough. Hopefully it paid off and the swelling was reduced. You both take care – lots of love and hugs to you both from us all. Veronica xx

    Hi steve and jane,
First of all many congratulations for calling the hospital for advice about your swollen ankles, it is your body and you know what is normal for you and what is unusual. Very well done.

Yes, I remember the hyper active phase!!!! There is a fabulous reclining garden chair which would enable jane to enjoy the outdoors and elevate her feet. I think it is a french make La Fumia or something lime that.

The sun did not shine much today in Mudeford so I did not manage my swim in the sea. However, on a very exciting note we did bump into a new friend of mine from the book club and her husband on the front this morning and stopped at the beach hut cafe for morning coffee with them. (Punctuation not brilliant in that sentence, sorry but I do struggle a bit with the iPad). It is a very special feeling for me to begin to bump into people I now know when I am out and about. Having lived in the same area almost all my life moving away has been a shock and a bit of a struggle even though I know it was my choice and I love the new area I love in.

Love and gentle hugs to you both
    Liz
