Jane has settled into her hospital bed and last night had toast for tea. Her pyjamas are not her normal sleep attire but I think they look really good on her.
She had a dreadful night’s sleep (or not sleeping) and was glad when it got light. You can imagine how it is, strange bed, open ward and people coughing all around including herself.
This morning she has another ultrasound in readiness for the lung drain at about 2.30 this afternoon. She’s been overwhelmed with all the texts and emails that she’s received but I need to get a phone charger and tablet to her otherwise she’s going to become cut off from the outside world.
Oh, how am I? Well if you’ve read Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials then you’ll know that everyone has a daemon without which they cannot survive. Jane is my daemon! Keeping busy is the key so I’ve cleaned the house from top to bottom and made sure our Murphy has had Jane’s share of cuddles.
Thanks for all the comments on the website and please keep them coming, it does help.
Hi Steve, maybe Jane would like to try ear plugs……..I found them helpful when next to the kitchen
in NGH……..so noisy!
Good idea, I think I’ve got some so I’ll look them out and see if it makes a difference.
Thank you for the update. You do not mention that jane is troubled by lights in the ward when she is trying to sleep . If she is troubled by the lights I have found that eye masks, of the sort handed out on the plane, work an absolute treat. All a matter of personal choice but jane might like to give it a go. Huge gentle hugs to you both. Liz
Thanks Liz, I think she’s more bothered by the people around her coughing and the various drip machines that beep when they are running low of fluid.
