When we lived on the outskirts of Northampton everything was on our doorstep. I would drive 5 miles to work; theatres and cinemas were virtually on our doorstep; and there was a choice of supermarkets within a five mile radius.
Since moving to Lincolnshire our perception of distance has changed because most points of interest are on average 15 miles apart. Admittedly there is very little traffic but we look at getting places quite differently – no longer how far but how long? Of course our perspective will change again when we move from our temporary accommodation into our new home in Market Rasen (15 miles or 30 minutes away).
