At last the tiles on the front of the house are being laid. Every time we visit we hope to see the roof complete and it has been quite depressing despite what has been going on inside.
At last the window fittings have arrived and by 10am there were two windows installed. There is always a down side to any visit and this time it was the external doors. It seems the option we were running with is as expensive if not more so than getting doors from the same company that made the windows (VelFac).
Who would have thought that getting this gas installation box would have given us so much grief. We started the process in July and after several attempts I had to contact the Chief Executive of National Grid to get things moving. Even with the CX pushing it through it still took several weeks but we got there in the end. The workers were on site for only 13 hours so the final discounted cost of £6,035 still seems excessive. Our view of National Grid hasn’t changed; They’re a monopoly and are prepared to charge whatever the market will bear, without constraint.
