My role as Chairman of West Wolds U3A gets me involved in all sorts of activities. Today one of the team organised an event similar to Cash in the Attic where for a small fee our members could bring along items for a professional auctioneer to value. It was a good turn out and because I was on the door I waited until the end to get my items looked at. I have a large number of books containing postcards that Jane collected over many years. She set them out into three themes – balloons, fairies and windmills. It was difficult to put a price on any of them (anything between 20 pence and 20 pounds per card) so the valuer suggested I take them to a postcard specialist in Ely. Jane took so much time and trouble over her collections that I’d like them to go to a good home.
Later the same day we had a visit from the Lincs and Notts air ambulance. It landed in the small playing field at the back of the house. After ten minutes it took off again but I don’t think it was on an emergency call out.
