Jane was scheduled to have chemo today and she was considering giving up especially as the thought of getting to the hospital from the hospice involved the “resented” wheelchair and a lot of sitting around. After much discussion with a palliative consultant and Dr Hassan who did Jane’s lung drain she decided to go ahead as her bloods were good.
Although we did have to sit around for several hours because they were fitting in all the chemotherapies missed on Christmas Day, the bank holiday and of course the normal Tuesday schedule – the Ingham Suite was bulging at the seams.
We got back to the hospice at around 6 pm and Jane was concerned she’d missed dinner however like all good 5 star hotels the cook was there asking what she’d like and magically produced home-made vegetable soup and some shepherds pie and peas. Thankfully there was no Jeremy Clarkson moment and nobody got punched.
So that’s all good however Dr Hassan wants Jane to have an X-Ray and Ultrasound scan of her lungs and stomach – the appointment has been made for 8.30 tomorrow (Wednesday) morning which will be a struggle for Jane. The nursing staff at St Barnabas didn’t miss a beat and just said “no problem – we’ll have her ready for 8”. That just leaves me with the challenge of getting up at 6.30 am to be in Lincoln at 8 am.
I think you are both amazing – what a team you are. Thinking of you both & praying for some positive news very soon. Love & Hugs Carol xx
I just gave Richard update on yesterday’s blog and he says “Well done Jane”!! I am sure it would have been very easy for her not to go for her latest chemo. Hope you managed to get up in time and to the hospital for her appointment – will keep checking for results and do hope for a more positive report. She certainly deserves top marks for her determination. Thinking of you both and sending lots of love. Veronica xx
