Jane had her second infusion of chemo on Monday but she is feeling very miserable (and who wouldn’t be?) so she agreed to stay at St Barnabas Hospice in Lincoln so they could work on her physical and emotional concerns. We were hoping that she would get a bed over the weekend but it wasn’t to be. After meeting with the district nurse and a MacMillan nurse on Monday morning and seeing a nurse from St Barnabas on Tuesday Jane was settled into her new environment this morning (Wednesday). It is a stressful time but she was feeling a little more relaxed after having a massage on her legs, ankles and arms this afternoon. She will stay for at least a week but it might be two depending on how quickly she responds to the various therapies. The hospice is like a 4 star hotel – the nurses are very attentive, the chef comes and meets the patients personally, listens to their likes and dislikes and delivers excellent food. Jane couldn’t be in a better place at the moment and hopefully she will be home soon, an even better place.
I’ll be visiting every day and our neighbours will call in as well so she won’t be without friends over Christmas. She’d love to hear from you so please WhatsApp, email or text.
Thanks for the update Steve – thinking of you both. Have emailed Jane. The rest and extra care will do her good I’m sure and build up her strength for when she returns home – where she belongs. With love Veronica xx
Sending you all love and best wishes. Thank you Steve for keeping us up to date and Jane always so strong minded this ” break” will build you up. Love Caroline and John
Hi Jane & Steve,
Our friendship extends well over 40 years now, always known you Jane for your indefatigable spirit – we can’t imagine you being ‘miserable’. The chemo must be a real bugger.
The hospice description sounds like what you offer her at home, Steve!
The chrissy pud’n will surely put a smile on your face
Lots of love & hugs across the miles,
Ian & Sue xx

Hi Steve and Jane, it sounds like some pampering is welcome. All of us back in Blisworth send our love ? xx
Dear steve and jane, thank you for your messages and keeping us up to date. It is good to hear that jane is having luxury treatment at the hospice. I have two friends who work at a hospice in Barnet on a voluntary basis, reflexology and massage. They both say that to give some temporary comfort to the patients is the most rewarding part of their week. Please give her our love and I will send her an email. With love liz
