Plan D

oncology-iconTwo weeks ago we were informed that the Kadcyla chemo was not working and the tumours had grown therefore Jane went onto a new drug called Paclitaxel (Taxol) which is a sister drug to the Docitaxel she started in August 2014. This time she has to go every week rather than every three weeks.

Last week she had her blood test on Tuesday, chemo on Wednesday and then on Friday met with a palliative care consultant to discuss her pain management regime. Hopefully Jane will be attending a day therapy session soon to help her gain the most from life because the treatment has overtaken her life.

The biggest impact the treatment has on Jane at the moment is the disruption to her dietary likes and dislikes. One day she will enjoy something and the following day it will taste horrible. Weirdly she enjoys eating foods she has never eaten before such as bacon flavoured crisps, bacon and eggs, cakes, croissants – many things she would have considered unhealthy in the past.
