Another year has passed and I had a lovely birthday. A friend made me a cake but there wasn’t room for seventy one candles.
I visited Sutton on Sea with a friend for the day and after walking the beach we sat on the promenade with a picnic lunch. Despite it being October the weather was a lot better than first forecast. At least it was dry.
At this time of year the trees around the house are shedding their leaves by the bag load. No sooner have I blown them into piles with the leaf blower and collected them up ready for the compost bin then the wind picks up and another load comes fluttering down. I took a picture of the back lawn after running over it with the petrol mower just to pick up the leaves. The following morning it was covered again. My approach is to collect the leaves two or three times a week depending on how busy I am and the weather.
Midweek I met up with my college friends. We’ve known each other for over 50 years and still find plenty to talk about and laugh at. We met at Yorkshire Sculpture Park where we had to book in advance. The cafe was open and we did have coffee on arrival sitting at different tables and shouting across the room. Thankfully there were not many people present so we didn’t embarrass ourselves.
We wandered around the lower gallery before taking a leisurely walk around the grounds and then settling down on two picnic tables where we ate our sandwiches. Thankfully the rain held off long enough and just as we getting our things together so it started to drizzle Throughout the time we kept a social distance.
Very interesting photos from the Sculpture Park – I will definitely have to go there when we can all travel about again!
