Weekend Entertainment

Saturday was Dave’s birthday so as a special treat we went for dinner at the Huntsman restaurant in Barton upon Humber followed by a stand up gig by a guy called Alfie Moore at the Ropery Hall. Dinner was good if a little rushed to get to the venue in time for 8pm. I’d heard Alfie Moore on Radio 4 “It’s a fair cop” retelling stories from his time as a police officer working in Grimsby and Scunthorpe. On the radio show he explained a hilariously funny situation and then asks the audience if the person has broken the law and if they have how should they be dealt with. His live show consisted of him getting to know his audience in the first half and then relating his experiences in a very funny way. The tale of what happened when a clown turned up the front desk, slightly inebriated, asking for help to find his four lions that had escaped from the circus. He had the audience in fits. It was an excellent night, enjoyed by all.
