A busy weekend with me helping Mary to shift 4 tonnes of topsoil into her raised beds. It’s a long time since I’ve done any serious labouring so I was pleased that I could keep up the pace. We shifted 3 bags on the Saturday afternoon and the final bag on the Sunday morning. It was all done ready for Mary’s son’s birthday BBQ. The weather held up and everyone had a good time.
On Monday it was Mary’s birthday so she took the day off and we headed to the Norfolk coast, stopping off in Burnham Market for lunch at a restaurant called Twenty Nine. The village is very up-market and the restaurant was an odd collection of styles even a little pretentious. I confess I was fascinated by the polished stainless steel urinals made from beer kegs.
The walk from Holkham Beach to Wells was wonderful however the tea at the cafe in Wells left a lot to be desired. It seemed the longer the tea bag sat in the cup the weaker the tea became – how can that happen? And we finished the trip with a walk round Cley spending some time in the pottery shop.
