Macbeth RSC – Review

Life continues to be full of “firsts” – I didn’t expect to be saying that at my age.

Yesterday after a three-hour session with the co-research team at Lincoln University I travelled home and then a quick turn around before heading down to Peterborough to meet up with Mary after work.

We had a delightful early Thai dinner at East set on the river Nene before walking to the Key Theatre to watch a live screening of Macbeth from RSC Stratford. It was the first time I had seen an RSC produced Shakespeare play via a live broadcast. In the past I’ve either been to Stratford or The Barbican in London. When watching a live performance you choose what to watch on stage but in a broadcast the producer decides what to focus on so it was a strange experience for me – cheaper but not as immersive as the three-dimensional event. Nonetheless, it was an excellent production and well worth the journey to Peterborough.
