A day out meeting college friends is always a delight. I’ve no doubt said this many times before but when we’re together the 50 years since we first met roll back and we revert to our youth. We do have more wisdom but we are still as opinionated as ever, if not more so. We discuss a whole range of topics from Caronavirus through the state of current politics in the UK and USA to what hats suit us and which ones definitely don’t. All these discussions are thickly layered with wonderful humour that can only come from our diverse experiences but we remain socialists and probably could be described as part of the liberal elite.
We had lunch in the Garden centre which is behind the main house and is accessed separately. As for Wentworth Woodhouse – as you can see from the photo above it is shrouded in scaffolding so the magnificent frontage (allegedly the longest fronted stately home in the UK) is hidden from view. The walk in the grounds was bracing and we made a hasty retreat to the cafe as the clouds looked a bit ominous.
