Troilus and Cressida – Review

It has been quite a while since I visited Stratford Upon Avon for an infusion of Shakespeare.  It was part of a busy day – meeting an ex work colleague (Director) in Uppingham and then driving over to pick Mary up before heading off to Stratford. We were staying in the Crown Plaza hotel which is a short walk from the RSC and close to restaurants in the town.

As always with productions by the RSC it was a night to remember. The whole experience enhanced with a sound score by virtuoso percussionist Evelyn Glennie. The acting, costumes (in the style of Mad Max), the fight choreography and of course the script all made for a wonderful evening. I didn’t understand every part of the dialogue but did understand the story and how it unfolds. I still have a question over Cressida’s motives for seemingly falling under the influence of another. Did she do it to save her lover or was she being fickle?

The next production is Timon of Athens in February so another possible visit then.
