Progress in Hospital

leaking-body(dec15)Eventually after two attempts Jane had her right pleural sac drained and her breathing is better. Today she had her chemo but she had to wait until 6pm before it was delivered. Her oncologist is concerned because her liver function has deteriorated and so rather than give the full dose she is having a reduced amount every week. There is a delicate balance to be had between the cancer damaging the liver and the chemo destroying the cancer but also it does damage the liver. We hope the balance is such that the cancer is halted whilst the liver has a chance to recover.

Jane will remain in hospital until at least Sunday so they can continue to monitor her. She really appreciates all the contact you have given and it helps to take her mind off all the gruelling treatment and discomfort.
