It was time for a trip to the Highlands to visit my good friends Tony & Jude. It has been a while since I’ve driven the 450 miles on my own. I stopped on the A66 for coffee, then again at Tesco Carlisle to refuel and my final stop was at Bankfoot, north of Perth.
I was on the road for nearly 9 hours.

A visit to the Moray Firth isn’t complete unless we walk along the shore at Findhorn.
On this occasion we didn’t manage lunch at The Captain’s Table because it was very busy.
There wasn’t a cloud in the sky.
Tony & Jude made some delicious dinners.
I had a very relaxing time – eating well, reading in the garden, and with very good company.

Tony and I took a trip to Grampian Motor Museum which had some interesting exhibits.
On the way back we stopped at a lovely baronial house – Leith Hall. We fancied lunch and although the menu said it was too late for a breakfast sausage bap they said it wasn’t a problem.
On a walk along the shore I saw this Oyster Catcher in the distance and decided to see how well the Galaxy S25 camera lenses would cope with something so far away.
It’s a bit shaky and therefore the focus isn’t too sharp but it isn’t bad. Who needs an expensive DSLR when smartphone cameras are so good.

The drive back from Scotland was a bit of a trial. After 2 hours I decided that it was going well and drove on for another 3 hours to Tesco Carlisle. I had lunch and refuelled facing the prospect of another 3 hours ahead of me.
I was tired and travelling a little faster on the A66 than I should in an attempt to shorten the journey time. That’s my excuse for not seeing the mobile camera sitting in the layby. I’m expecting a speeding ticket to arrive in the letterbox in the coming week.
Back at home and the garden needed my attention.
The greenhouse has some successes and failures. The red and white cabbage seedlings were ready to be planted out however the brussels, kale and kohl rabi have failed to germinate.
More sowings are required.

A busy time!
Interesting and the usual foodfest.
Pity about the sting in the tail ?
