Cradle Mountain is a National Park area in the centre of Tasmania and there are a lot of similarities with the Lake District.

We stayed for a night in this log cabin and thankfully it was far from primitive although the toilet and shower block was across the road and there was no main drainage.

The trees around Cradle Mountain were most unusual but we believe them to be typical Tasman vegetation.

This is Sheffield to the south of Devonport. Towns don't get much quieter than this. We stood in the middle of the road and took pictures without any threat of being run down by the traffic.
Jane and her sister Ruth together on the beach Swansea. We stayed in a cabin less than a 5 minute walk from the beach. You don't get any closer to paradise than this.

Although Wine Glass bay looked inviting, never forget this is the South Pacific and not far from the South Pole. Jane's expression says it all.

Beauty Point, Tasmania is Ruth's home and there is also a sea horse centre. Sea horses are bred for release into the wild and also for the Chinese medicine market.

Walks on the beach give an opportunity to observe the variety of textures and colours on the sea shore. Here's our attempt at a still life.
